Join this online debate with candidates seeking to represent the 58th District in the New York State Senate. This event has been organized by the Institute of Politics and Global Affairs at Cornell University.

Not sure of your district? Look it up here: https://www.nysenate.gov/find-my-senator

Participants:

Candidates:
• Thomas O'Mara (R / Conservative Party / Independence Party)
• Leslie Danks Burke (D / Working Families Party / Serve America Movement Party)

Moderators:
• Alexandra ‘Ali’ Cirone, assistant professor of government and faculty fellow at IOPGA
• Sabrina Karim, assistant professor of government and faculty fellow at IOPGA

The Institute of Politics and Global Affairs (IOPGA) is a non-partisan institute dedicated to elevating public discourse and stimulating civic engagement.

While the current public health crisis has undoubtedly upended campaigning and hampered traditional means of connecting voters and candidates, we hope that this online forum will allow local residents to get to know candidates in advance of the election and ask questions of importance to the community.

Note: All candidates were invited to participate. Cornell University does not endorse any candidates, but we are pleased to be able to host the forum for the benefit of the general public.
